American Sardine Bar chef Scott Schroeder kicked off a guest sandwich series with artist Hawk Krall in December, so naturally I tripped over myself with saturated-fat excitement when offered the January 2013 slot. Here’s Dad’s Sandwich, my contribution for January. I dreamt this up on the late-night tip back in July 2011, and a riff on it, “The Jawn,” is available at Old City’s Wedge + Fig. This version is true to its original form: turkey, pork roll, cheddar, jalapeño, dijonaise and BBQ chips on butter-crispy Texas toast.
